Ooni specializes in high-temperature outdoor pizza ovens for residential customers. The company was founded in 2012 by the husband-and-wife team Kristian Tapaninaho. The company today employs more than 100 people around the world. In 2018 the company officially changed its name to Ooni from its previous name of Uuni.[14] 'Uuni' means 'oven' in Finnish.
